Scanned images should be scanned at at least 300 dpi, ideally even at 600 dpi. Here is a calculation for this:
An average good photo camera currently has at least 20 megapixels. This value describes the number of pixels that make up a photo. At 20 megapixels, the resolution is 5152 x 3864 pixels with an aspect ratio of 4:3. At 300 dpi, this results in a calculated print size of 44 x 33 cm.

If the resolution of the photo is too low for a placeholder, this will be indicated by a red bar. If an image box is selected, information such as the print resolution or size of the image will be displayed in the red bar below the workspace. If the image boxes are empty, you will also see information here about the resolution an image should have for optimal printing.
